Partnerships
A major goal of UConn R & D’s commercialization efforts is to develop
industry partnerships and collaborations that can help move University
technologies forward in the development process. UConn’s technologies are at
various stages of development, ranging from proof of concept to established
technologies in prototype development. Most often, the technology evaluated
by UConn R & D is at an early stage.
Although UConn R & D’s focus is starting new companies based on UConn
technologies, we are also open to collaborations which combine our business
expertise and unique, state-of-the-art technologies with industry
experience, resources, and market knowledge. The Company seeks industry
partnerships in three areas:
- Support of early research and proof of concept
- Co-development of prototypes/models
- Joint evaluation of specific industry markets
Licensing is handled by the Center for
Science and Technology Commercialization; however, UConn R & D looks to
work with industry partners where the technology can be the basis for a
company.
